Your information here

You can read the guides without an account. The contact-writing tool keeps its work in your browser until you choose to use it elsewhere.

Who is responsible

Cedarwhirlbantr Media Ltd operates cedarwhirlbantr.sbs and is the controller for personal information it receives in connection with this website. Our registered office is 24 Bridge Street, Cambridge CB2 1UJ, United Kingdom; company no. 14836271. Contact [email protected] for privacy questions or rights requests.

Information involved in visiting

Delivering a website requires technical information such as your IP address and browser request details. Hosting infrastructure may record access times, requested pages, browser information and errors for security, reliability and troubleshooting. We do not use the supplied website code to run analytics, advertising trackers, visitor profiles or third-party embedded media.

Our basis for necessary security and service administration is our legitimate interest in operating a reliable and secure information service. We limit any use of technical information to those purposes and do not sell personal information.

The message-writing tool

Text entered on the Contact page is used only in the current page to construct a plain-text preview. The tool makes no network request to submit that text and does not save it in localStorage. Copying places the message on your device’s clipboard with your browser’s permission; downloading creates a text file on your device. Your browser, operating system or device software may manage clipboard history and downloaded files separately.

The tool does not send an email. If you choose to email us, your email provider and our email provider process the message for delivery. We then receive the information you include, such as your name, address and question. Please do not include sensitive personal data or confidential recordings.

Email correspondence and retention

We use correspondence to answer questions, assess corrections, maintain an appropriate editorial record and handle legal or security concerns. Our usual basis is a legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us; legal obligations may also apply to particular records.

We retain correspondence only for as long as reasonably needed for its purpose, normally up to 12 months after a matter closes. A longer period may be necessary for an ongoing dispute, legal obligation or documented editorial correction. We seek to minimise identifying information in longer-term editorial records.

Browser storage

The Cookies page lets you save an essential-only preference in localStorage. This is a browser setting, not an account record, and is not transmitted by our site scripts. It remains until you clear it or your browser removes it. Details and deletion controls are on Your cookie choices.

Service providers and international processing

Hosting and email providers may process technical information or correspondence as needed to deliver their services. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to establish or defend legal rights. Where providers process personal information outside the UK, applicable safeguards must be used, such as an adequacy decision or appropriate contractual protections. Contact us for information relevant to a specific request.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal information and object to processing based on legitimate interests. If processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. We may need to verify identity proportionately before releasing information.

We normally respond to rights requests within one month, subject to applicable legal extensions. You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or your relevant data protection authority. Contacting us first may help resolve the issue, but is not a condition of making a complaint.

External links and updates

Linked third-party sites have their own policies. Following a link may disclose normal request information to that destination. We may update this notice when the site’s practices change; the effective date above identifies this version.
